Elk Grove, CA (June 13, 2019) – Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson will continue to offer the highest guaranteed purse in Outlaw Kart racing with the announcement of the fifth edition of Kyle Larson’s Outlaw Kart Showcase, set to return as a two-day affair on Monday and Tuesday, September 2 and 3. The event will once again be held near Chico, Calif., at Cycleland Speedway where Larson grew up racing, and will carry a $35,000 total purse for the three divisions with $6,000 to the winner of the Open Division.
“It’s always cool to come back to Cycleland Speedway, as that is where I learned to race as a kid,” said Larson. “The Tuesday night Showcase race was always my favorite race of the year and it’s a good feeling to see what it has become again by giving back to the Outlaw Kart community and putting on an awesome show for the fans.”
In addition to the Open Division, the Outlaw Kart Showcase will once again include the Box Stock and 250 Intermediate Outlaw Karts. Preliminary events for all three divisions will be contested Monday night, with feature events on Tuesday night. Opening night will also see a special Open Division feature paying $1,000 to the winner, and will be contested by the top 20 karts from qualifying. Ahead of the Outlaw Kart Showcase is a regular point race on Saturday, August 31 and a Showcase practice night on Sunday, September 1 for those wishing more track time.
As usual, drivers from all over the country are expected to compete at the event. 142 total entries were received last year and Larson, the defending Open Division race winner, has to be one of the favorites of this year’s edition. Also anticipated to return is 250 Intermediate champ Dominic Gorden and Box Stock feature winner Eric Botelho.
Instructions for event entry are available at www.OutlawKartShowcase.com. Entry information, as well as rules, race format and information on sponsorship opportunities will be posted on the website.
